How to Win Every Time

We are the sum of what we do consistently.

Read that again.

If you’re eating health-promoting food 80% of the time, hitting 10K steps a day, working out 4 days a week on a consistent basis, you’re most likely going to be generally healthy.

If you have a 5 year old who loves Legos you’re probably going to scream in agony from stepping on one of those things...consistently.

Kidding aside, being consistent with what you want to accomplish is how you win.

Example, last weekend we traveled back to my hometown in Louisiana to celebrate with our friends, John and Michele Roden. They've owned a Chick-fil-A restaurant for 30 years.  John was my boss 29 years ago when I started at my first job.  Yep, I worked at Chick-fil-A in high school in the mid-90s, that’s right after they got combo meals, that long ago.  What I got from that work experience was witnessing John come in everyday, even when he didn’t want to, doing the thing that needed to be done to get him to his goal.  He’s been consistently showing up and has been rewarded with a super-successful restaurant filled with ambitious employees that want to be there for their customers.  His consistency is contagious.  I’m forever grateful for having the opportunity to witness this.

John and Michele didn’t just happen to run into success, they made it happen by consistently showing up.  They didn’t make a million dollars every single day, but showing up consistently eventually made them millions of dollars.

That’s what happens with you.  You don’t get healthy by working out just one-time or even a few times.  You get healthy by showing up over and over and over again.  It doesn’t just magically happen to you, your consistency is what makes it happen.
